Membership Policy and Starting Training With Us

To ensure that our club continues to offer Wing Chun to the highest standard, to maintain a friendly and beneficial learning environment and to uphold our responsibility to teach only those deemed suitable for martial arts, membership is by approval and invitation only.

Students must be non-aggressive, courteous, respectful, and be able to work in cooperation with fellow students, demonstrate initiative and self-discipline and show that they are developing a basic understanding of the principles of Wing Chun.

These points are observed and assessed during twelve sessions of introductory training, during which you will experience our club ethos, training environment, teaching methods and observe seniors playing Chi Sau. You will learn the basic principles and concepts of Wing Chun, Sil Lim Tao (the first form) and some partner drills. This will give you time to decide if our club is what you are looking for.

After the twelve session introductory period, we will have observed your ability to understand and perform the fundamentals of Wing Chun that you will have been practising, your attitude to training, how often you attend and how hard you work. Those who have done well and who have made a good effort will be invited to become full members and ambassadors to Elite Wing Chun.

The introductory period lasts between four and sixteen weeks depending on how often you are able to train and how soon the 12 introductory classes are taken. The fee for the introductory period is £36 cash per four week block.

For training comfort it is advisable to wear a t-shirt, joggers and trainers (non-marking soles please). For training safety jewellery and watches are not to be worn during class.
